If I wanted to ask my Ohio US Senate Candidate a question…

At Ohio Election Forum we strive to reach out to the candidates to see if they would like to interact with us on our forum. To do this I looked to the Ohio US Senate candidates to ask them to join our Forum. I have to say I was shocked at the difficulty I encountered when trying to reach the candidates.

All of the candidates had a website except for Michael Liepold, I got a parked message for him. What was interesting was that on their website I could only contact Gibbons, Patel and Dolan. All the other candidates had no contact form or e-mail addresses but Mandel and Vance each had a PO box I could write to, maybe the pony express will get me an answer before the primary. With regards to Berman, perhaps there is contact information on his site but it appears more to be a rambling mess that I could not decipher.

Next, I went to their Facebook pages to see if I could contact them there. Everyone except for Liepold had a Facebook page. Dolan, Gibbons, Mandel, Patel and Pukita all had e-mail addresses on there that I could contact them on. Pukita and Patel list a real address, not a PO box and Pukita also lists a phone number.

So maybe I could connect with them via Messenger, Pukita, Timkin and Moreno have the messenger feature active on their FB pages. But with Timkin’s messenger I got a response that that page didn’t accept message requests. I messaged Pukita and as of this writing have not received a message back.

The big issue here is that if someone is running for office and they want to hear from their voters they will have a way to contact them. There should be an e-mail address that is answered by staffers or volunteers or something other then a PO box. If these candidates really want to hear from the voters and want to be for the people as they state they should have an open avenue of communication. Without this they are still in the echo chamber of their paid for polls and only listening to their constituents and their lobbyist’s, as I’m sure THEY can get a hold of them. So do they really care what “We the people…” have to say or are concerned about?
